Our club is a subchapter of AFCEA International (Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association), which is a non-profit membership association serving the military, government, industry, and academia as an ethical forum for advancing professional knowledge and relationships in the fields of communications, IT, intelligence, and global security.
The Cochise College Subchapter of AFCEA focuses on topics of interest to our student members through the use of guest speakers during our monthly meetings. Some previous topics have been:
Our club is responsible for running the annual Computer Challenge event the first Friday of March each year. This event is open to all middle schools and high schools across Cochise County, and provides a venue for friendly competition in events ranging from knowledge tests, word processing, and computer programming to mention a few of the over 25 events. We normally have over 250 students participate in the event.
We also participate in various Student Government events each year, ranging from meetings to the Haunted Union.
Periodically their are luncheons held by the Southern Arizona Chapter of AFCEA (our parent chapter) on Fort Huachuca - usually at the Thunder Mountain Activity Center. These luncheons are open to the general public, and paid members of the subchapter will have the cost of the luncheon covered by the club.
